First Look At Marvel Shows Revealed!

Marvel News

***************

Last week’s Super Bowl included a few treats for Marvel fans. We got a Black Widow TV Spot and a first look at the three Disney Plus shows coming out soon. We knew we were getting a peek at footage from Falcon and Winter Soldier and WandaVision, but I don’t think anyone was expecting a few seconds of Loki footage at the end! You can watch both TV spots below:

Black Widow:

Disney Plus:

MCU Cosmic noticed several things in the above spot:

1. Loki is wearing a uniform with the letters TVA on it. These letters stand for Time Variance Authority. According to the site,  “That’s an organization who monitors alternate timelines in the Multiverse and will “prune” those they deem to dangerous to exist.”

So it looks like Loki got in a butt-load of trouble with the Time Variance  and is now serving time for his crimes.

2. The several seconds of WandaVision confirmed several rumors that were previously reported:

1. Wanda and Visions twins, Billy and Tommy, will be in the series.

2. They will grow up fast over a short time period.

3. The show will be influenced by sitcoms from the 50s through the 90s.

Several Black Widow character posters and the official synopsis  were also released:

“In Marvel Studios’ action-packed spy thriller Black Widow, Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow confronts the darker parts of her ledger when a dangerous conspiracy with ties to her past arises. Pursued by a force that will stop at nothing to bring her down, Natasha must deal with her history as a spy and the broken relationships left in her wake long before she became an Avenger.”
Another poster for New Mutants has been released:

MCU Cosmic reported that Clint Barton’s brother Barney AKA the antihero Trickshot and the Tracksuit Draculas AKA the Tracksuit Mafia. These characters appear in the Matt Fraction Hawkeye comics.
I’ve read a bunch of those and really enjoyed them. I know it’s a small complaint, but the Tracksuit Mafia overused the word, “Bro, ” which got annoying after a while. So maybe spice up their dialogue by throwing in a few “Dudes” to mix it up! 😂
Gemma Chan confirmed via Instagram that Eternals has finished filming.
Disney had their earnings call this week. During the call, Bob Iger confirmed/announced  a couple of things.
1. Falcon and Winter Soldier will stream in August. WandaVision was confirmed for December.
2. There are 7 Disney Plus Marvel  shows in various stages of development.

Variety
reported that Sam Raimi is “in talks” with Marvel about directing Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Former director Scott Derrickson tweeted his support of the news:
47660952-363E-418F-A931-53CDC765AB4ECredit: MCU Direct
Variety also stated that Rachel McAdams will not be returning as Doctor Christine Palmer in the sequel.
The Illuminerdi reported that Kraven the Hunter could be showing up in the MCU soon.  For more information, check out their article:
They also reported that Christian Bale will be playing an alien villain in Thor: Love and Thunder. He hasn’t signed on the dotted line yet, but is said to have a lead role in the movie. His character isn’t known but is described by Marvel Studios as “otherworldly.”
MCU Cosmic reported that Marvel is still looking for their Kate Bishop. Their first choice is Hailee Steinfeld. But because of potential scheduling conflicts with Hawkeye and her Apple TV+ series Dickensian, they need to have a second option just in case their first doesn’t work out.
The same source has also reported that Marvel wants to use Crossbones in the future and are discussing how they can do that. Crossbones first appeared in and  died in Captain America: Civil War. It’s kinda hard to use a character that’s dead! But as Marvel and DC have proven, nothing is impossible in the realm of comic book cinema.

A BTS look at Pixar’s Onward has been released:
THR reported that Chris Pratt will be starring in a new conspiracy  thriller TV series The Terminal List.
Here’s the synopsis:
“The Terminal List follows Reece (Pratt) after his entire platoon of Navy SEALs is ambushed during a high-stakes covert mission. As he returns home with conflicting memories of the event and questions about culpability, new evidence comes to light when he discovers dark forces working against him.”
The show doesn’t have a network yet. It’s also a potential multiple season show, not a limited series.
Deadline reported that Tom Hiddleston will star in a new Political Thriller Netflix series White Stork. The show will have ten episodes, and there’s no word on when it’ll premiere. Here’s the synopsis:
“When James Cooper (Hiddleston) is selected to run for a seat in parliament, Asher Millan is sent to vet him for primetime. But she quickly uncovers potentially damaging secrets buried deep in James’ past. Secrets that will threaten to blow everything apart – his career, his marriage, even the powerful people backing his campaign.”
During Lionsgate’s earnings call, it was announced that Tom Holland’s movie Chaos Walking will be released in theaters on January 22, 2021.
The first trailer for Saw: Spiral starring Chris Rock and Samuel L. Jackson has been released:
That’s all for this week. Thanks for reading!

In an interview with BuzzfeedBrasil, Kevin Feige says that Disney+ show What If? is 10 episodes long. Season 2 is already in progress.

While on Kevin Smith’s podcast Fatman Beyond, New Mutants comics artist Bill Sienkiewicz had this to say about the upcoming New Mutants film:

“Two days ago, I heard from Josh Boone, the director, and he sent me a new trailer. And they’ve been working on it, he’s been working on and everything, and it is phenomenal. I got chills. It looks like, because of the whole Disney-Fox, I don’t even want to call it a merger, takeover, whatever. But it’s got the blessings of Marvel. And it feels more Marvel in terms of what they’re doing, but also the horror elements of the film are in place. It’s really, absolutely stellar, just what I’ve seen.”

MCUCosmic speculates that this could be an unofficial way to introduce Mutants to the MCU.

Director Josh Boone has said that a trailer will be coming in January.

Murphy’s Multiverse has reported that Moon Knight will be filming next year at Pinewood Studios in the UK.

Preproduction on Loki has started! Tom Hiddleston shared this photo on his Instagram:

Here’s another RUMOUR courtesy of Murphy’s Multiverse. This time it’s about the production of Shang-Chi of the Legend of the Ten Rings. Production for part of the film may be taking place on in Malta, on the island Republic of Malta to be exact. The film was previously reported to be filming in Hong Kong and Vietnam. The scenes that take place in Hong Kong could potentially be moved Malta because of civic unrest in Hong Kong.

This is just a rumor and hasn’t been confirmed with a second source. Please take this information with a bit of salt!

Charles Murphy has revealed the RUMORED release date for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3:

2/17/23

Charles says this date is “old info” and may have already been changed, so take this info with a grain of salt!

Full Circle Cinema has reported the rumor that Daniel Radcliffe of Harry Potter fame is in the running for the role of Moon Knight. Dan in the MCU? This writer says, “Bring it!”

Strange Snabs Sequel

This week has been full of interesting news and rumors. As the Holidays get closer, Hollywood releases a bunch of news before going on a two week break. During the news slump, I will try to have a movie review out, either for Ragnarok or Infinity War.

Speaking of Infinity War, it’s been nominated for two Critic’s Choice Awards for Best Action Movie and Best Visual Effects.

Black Panther has been nominated for twelve Critics Choice Awards, including an award for Best Picture.

Black Panther has also been nominated for two SAG Awards including Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture.

Both Infinity War and Antman And The Wasp have been nominated for SAG Awards for Outstanding Action Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Motion Picture.

Den Of Geek reported that in an interview they conducted with Into The Spiderverse producers, Phil Lord and Chris Miller revealed that Dr. Strange showed up at the end of the first draft of the movie. It’s too bad that didn’t make the cut. I would’ve enjoyed seeing that!

In an interview with Discussing Film, Venom screenwriter Jeff Pinkner confirmed that a sequel is in the works. When asked about the possibility of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man, Mr. Pinkner had this to say:

74D74C60-D654-4C72-B478-144F992C1BB5

I think it’d be cool to see Spider-Man go up against Venom. Hopefully, things will work out so that this can happen.

Hollywood Reporter broke the news that Scott Derrickson will be returning to direct Dr. Strange 2.  Benedict Cumberbatch and Benedict Wong are set to return as Dr. Strange and Wong respectively. Rachel McAdams is possibly returning in the role of Strange’s love interest, Dr. Christine Palmer as well.Marvel has started looking for someone to write the script.

Hollywood Reporter sources are hopeful that the script will be written in 2019, with filming starting in 2020, and hopefully releasing in May 2021 if all goes according to plan.

The Hashtag Show reported that Marvel has started casting supporting roles for their upcoming Black Widow movie including a role for a “female contemporary” for Natasha. No one knows what kind of role this particular character will play. The movie will start production early next year and is set for release in May 2020.

Discussing Film reported cinematographer Rob Hardy (Mission Impossible: Fallout) has been hired for Black Widow.

Cartoon Brew revealed that Spider-Man: Into The Spiderverse is officially a frontrunner in the Oscar race for Best Animated Feature. It’ll be interesting to see if Sony Animation will beat the normally Disney/Pixar dominated category.

A very reliable source has reported that the Spider-Man: Far From Home trailer will be released sometime next week. I currently don’t have a date, but as always the trailer will be shared here and on our Facebook page upon release.

Disney-Pixar’s next original film Onward will star Chris Pratt and Tom Holland, along with Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Octavia Spencer, and will be released March 6, 2020. Below in the following graphic from Chris Pratt Online is all that is currently known about the film.

836BBFF0-4C2E-421C-83C3-ABBB42A85AA1

Netflix’s Punisher Season 2 will be released in January 2019. If it follows the pattern of Ironfist, Luke Cage, and Daredevil, this could be the show’s final season before being cancelled.

According to Variety, don’t hold your breath for any of the Defenders characters to be revived on Disney Plus any time soon. Netflix had a clause in the show’s contract stating that characters from these shows can’t be used in other projects for two years after they get canceled. That means that the earliest these characters can be used is in 2021.

Antman and the Wasp will be added to Netflix on January 29,2019.

Elizabeth Olsen’s Facebook Watch show Sorry For Your Loss has been renewed for season two in 2019.

According to site We Got This Covered, the second trailer for Avengers Endgame is rumored to be released in March. This is just a rumor and no date has been confirmed.

My personal opinion is that people need to chill when it comes to trailers because Marvel is not ever going to release a trailer that will spoil anything of importance in their movies. They have been known to edit trailers in the past, so what little footage you do see may not actually make it into the final cut of the film. So, sit back, relax, the movie will get here when it gets here. And it will get here April 26, 2019.

Variety is predicting that Apple will buyout Sony Pictures in 2019. This would give Apple access to Spider-Man, Men In Black, and Jumanji as options for films and for their streaming service.

Maybe, and this is just me speculating, if this happens, we could see more of the Hulk as well. Right now, this is just a bunch of “What If?” It will  be interesting to see if this actually happens.

MCU Cosmic reported that Sony is hopeful about being able to extend their deal to keep Spider-Man in the MCU. Hopefully, things will work out and Spider-Man will stay in the MCU for years to come.

Spider-Man: Into The Spiderverse producer Amy Pascal told Vanity Fair in an interview that the Spiderverse sequel will focus on a romance between Miles Morales and Gwen Stacy. Gwen will also be the focus of the Spider-Women spin-off along with Cindy Moon (Silk) and Jessica Drew (Spider-Woman).

The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Benicio del Toro (the Collector from Guardians of the Galaxy) will be playing Swiper the Fox in the Live Action Dora the Explorer movie.

RadioTimes reported that The Night Manager, a show based on the book of the same name by John le Carré starring Tom Hiddleston as the lead Jonathan Pine, has a second series in the works but the original director Susanne Bier will not be returning.

There was so much news this week that maybe if the same thing happens, I’ll split the News Roundup into two articles instead of one.

Page News: Our Facebook page has recently crossed 4K likes and is rapidly growing. To celebrate, we’ll be having a Marvel themed Q&A next Friday through Sunday. A post will be pinned to the top of the page Friday and we’ll answer questions throughout the weekend when we have time.

Both of my Facebook pages, My Marvelous Escape and DCTV Is My Escape are looking for admins. You can apply for one or the other, or both. Please message My Marvelous Escape and DCTV Is My Drug if interested.

That’s all for this week, I’ll be back next week with another News Roundup.

We’re Getting a Loki Series, And That’s No Trick!

Welcome, everyone to the first News Roundup for My Marvelous Escape! My name is Captain Stark and I have some very exciting news for you!

MCU Cosmic  broke the news earlier today that Disney President Bob Iger has confirmed that we will be getting a series on Disney’s streaming service (Disney +) centered around everyone’s favorite Trickster, Loki. The cherry on top of the sundae is that Tom Hiddleston will be returning to play the god of Mischief. There’s currently no information on what the show will be about, or when it will premiere, but the sun is beginning to shine again for our favorite character.

Infinity War director Joe Russo had an Instagram Q&A at his bar Duello today, and was kind enough to answer some questions on the still untitled Avengers 4. Here’s the information we know so far:

  1. Avengers 4 “will have the highest [stakes] of any of the films to date, without question.”
  2. The runtime is 3 hours long right now. Mr Russo said, “We’ll see if that holds.”
  3. They are only halfway through the editing process and are working on effects including beginning work on VFX shots.
  4. The Russo Brothers would love to work with Marvel again and would be “glad” to work with Marvel in the future.
  5. We “may or may not see” an Avengers 4 trailer before 2019.

I love the little bit of info we’re getting as well as frustrated over the lack of information about Avengers 4. It scares me about the movie having higher stakes. How can things possibly get worse after the devastation of Infinity War?! I guess we’ll find out when Avengers 4 is released in theatres on May 3, 2019.

I’m also very excited about Loki getting his own series. I would love for them to introduce Verity from the Loki, Agent of Asgard comics. What would you like to see included in a series like this? Let me know in the comments below. I’d also like your thoughts on making the News Roundup a regular part of the page. Would you like us to share the latest from Marvel with you?Thank you for being a part of our community. I love you all! ❤ ❤ ❤

Over and Out,

Captain Stark.
