Rumors

There are several rumors going around about Marvel’s upcoming projects. Remember that these are just rumors and that nothing is confirmed!!! These rumors come from We Got This Covered and God only knows how reliable this site actually is.

A Nebula and Gamora show might be in development for Disney +

Several X-men series might also be in development. The X-men characters are currently owned by Fox. The Fox-Disney merger isn’t completed yet, so if this rumor is true it will be awhile before this happens.

A Young Avengers/New Avengers movie is rumored to be in development. The team is said to include Kate Bishop’s Hawkeye, Hulkling, Iron Lad, Patriot, Wiccan, Stature, and a different version of Vision. Personally, I’d like to see America Chavez and Kid Loki included in the lineup.

Again, all of the above is speculation and rumors with no confirmation. No official Phase 4 plans will be announced until sometime after Avengers 4 is released.

That’s all for this week. Type at ya later!

Over and Out,

Captain Marvel Prepares for Liftoff

Unlike the last two weeks, there was a ton of Marvel news and rumors going around.

The Golden Globes were this week and Spider-Man Into The Spiderverse won the award for Best Animated Feature. It was a refreshing change to see Sony Animation win over Disney and Pixar.

Jeff Bridges (Obadiah Stane) received the Cecil  B. DeMille Award, an annual award given to those with “outstanding contributions to the world of entertainment.”

(Above Quote Source: Hollywood Reporter)

Black Panther unfortunately didn’t take home any Golden Globes but has been recently nominated for several other awards including:

1. A BAFTA for Special Visual Effects.

2. A nomination from Writer’s Guild of America for Best Adapted Screenplay.

3. 2 Makeup Artists and Hair Stylists Guild Awards nominations for Best Special Make-Up Effects and Best Period and/or Character Hairstyling.

4. A Costume Design Guild Award for Excellence in Sci-fi/Fantasy Film.

Infinity War has also been nominated for a BAFTA for Special Visual Effects, and a Costume Design Guild Award for Excellence in Sci-fi/Fantasy Film.

Spider-Man Into The Spiderverse continues to rack up the nominations with a BAFTA for the Best Animated Film Award.

The New York Times reported that there’s a possibility that Spider-Man Into The Spiderverse characters could get their own television series spinoffs.

Being the next MCU film, Captain Marvel had a lot of new interviews, videos, and posters released. Ticket presales have also begun. Several theaters have already sold out making Captain Marvel the third highest selling MCU film on Fandango.

Three official Captain Marvel posters have been released:

An extended TV spot premiered on ESPN during the College Football Championship on Monday:

A behind the scenes video was also released:

Several interviews with the cast and crew have been released this week. Here’s a few interesting factoids:

Executive Producer Jonathan Schwartz told Mashable that Captain Marvel is similar to Captain America: Winter Soldier in tone.

Also in the same interview, it’s revealed that the Tesseract is mentioned and might make an appearance as well.

In an interview with Comicbook.com, he talked about James Gunn’s involvement with Captain Marvel:

ecd82d15-3db7-4152-b1c5-6a9075e6f5cf

He also hinted about finding out why Nick Fury waits until the last minute of Infinity War to contact Captain Marvel:

We Got This Covered reported that in another interview he revealed that Captain Marvel will take place both on Earth and in Space saying, “It’s more or less 50/50.”

In another interview with Collider, he talked about the possibility of Hydra being mentioned:

df11f4d0-e804-4619-b1c7-6ee83912e321

He also said that there’s been talk about the Secret Invasion storyline in the MCU:

1ebf4a64-77c9-4e18-b773-c187f856aed0

Co- director Ryan Fleck told AMC Theaters that he’s “very excited to see what [Captain Marvel] does to Thanos in Endgame!”

Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury) confirmed in an interview with Entertainment Tonight that Captain Marvel will have the ability to time travel and that she’s one of the few characters that’s able to do it.

He also revealed that “You’ll see, specifically, the origin of what happened to his [Nick Fury’s] eye.”

In another interview with Hollywood Reporter he said that he would happily keep playing Nick Fury into his eighties.

He originally had a nine picture deal with Marvel. I hope it’s a contract he’s able to extend. Nick Fury is one of my favorite characters and I’m not ready to say goodbye!

Later, when asked who is favorite Avenger was, he answered,

“Nick Fury… Because he’s me…. Actually, Black Widow.”

In an interview with Collider, Jude Law, who’s playing a currently undisclosed Kree character, said, ”The Skrulls to the Kree really represent despicable maneuvering and manipulation.”

ABC News reported that a GoFundMe has been started to raise money to help as many young girls as possible see Captain Marvel in theaters, just like what was done last year for Black Panther.

During an interview with MTV’s Josh Horowitz  on the Golden Globes red carpet, Marvel’s President Kevin Feige had several interesting tidbits to share about Marvel’s upcoming projects:

1. The title for Avengers 4 was decided on before the movie was ever developed. He said, “Dr. Strange says that line [in Infinity War ] because we knew it was the title.”

This means all the names floating around were fake to throw everyone off.

2. When asked if rumors were true about only seeing the first 15-20 minutes of Endgame during the film’s marketing, he said, “I’d call it somewhat accurate. As was the case with a lot of our films this one, in particular, you know, being able to generate excitement without giving away any of the many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many secrets would be ideal.”

So it looks like no one has to worry about the trailers and promos giving too much of Endgame away.

MCU Cosmic reports that only scenes from the first half hour will be shown. So it looks like no one has to worry about the trailers and promotion giving anything important away about Endgame.

3. On whether Guardians 3 would still happen or not since James Gunn has been fired, he, said, “Guardians will happen. When, where, how—that’s for a later time.”

4. With the Fox-Disney merger about to be finalized, Marvel will soon have access to “hundreds” of characters that could eventually show up in the MCU.

5. One of those characters that could have his own movie is Silver Surfer. He “look(s) forward to talking with” writer/director Adam McKay who has mentioned in a recent interview that he’d like to make a Silver Surfer movie.

6. He considers Black Panther to be “…The most important victory [Marvel Studios] ever had.”

Variety reported that Sony is officially working on a Venom Sequel. Kelly Marcel, who helped rewrite Venom, will write the script, and because of scheduling conflicts Reuben Fleischer probably won’t be returning to direct.

On Wednesday, Marvel released the second issue of their 3 issue prelude comic series for Avengers Endgame.

Variety and The Hollywood Reporter announced that Dave Bautista (Drax) and Stellan Skarsgård (Erik Selvig) have been cast in Denis Villeneuve’s Dune remake. Bautista will play Glossu Rabban Harkonnen, the son of Skarsgård’s villainous Baron Harkonnen.

The Hollywood Reporter also announced that Karen Gillan will star in Gunpowder Milkshake, an assassin action movie written and directed by Aharon Keshales and Navot Papushado and co-written by Ehud Lavski. Not much is being said about the plot except that it will involve several generations and possibly have an all female cast.

Two new Marvel posters celebrating the past ten years of heroes and villains  have been been released:

The Hollywood Reporter announced that Jac Schaefferr has been hired to help write for  the Disney Plus show, Vision and the Scarlet Witch. She will also be the showrunner/executive producer for the series. She’s previously worked on the Captain Marvel script and has also written the script for the upcoming Black Widow movie.

The other night, The Hashtag Show shared a rumor about the upcoming Disney Plus Loki series. The rumor says there’s a possibility that Tom Hiddleston would be the narrator of Loki’s life story from the afterlife.

This is an UNCONFIRMED RUMOR!!! Though it’d be interesting to see different versions of Loki like Lady Loki and Kid Loki, I’d prefer that they bring Tom’s Loki back from the dead for more adventures. It’d also be cool if they adapted the Agents of Asgard comic series. That way you’d have Tom’s Loki, but you’d also get to see different iterations of the character. Again, This is just a rumor!!!! I just wanted to mention it because it’s currently making the rounds on the internet. Hopefully someone will ask about it at ACE Comicon Arizona this weekend. Though with Endgame not being released yet, he probably won’t be able to confirm or deny anything because of potential spoilers.

It was announced the other day that Charlie Cox (Daredevil) will be co-starring in the Harold Pinter play Betrayal along with Tom Hiddleston and Zawe Ashton. Zawe will be playing Robert’s (Tom Hiddleston) wife Emma who cheats on him with his best friend Jerry (Charlie Cox) The play’s about an affair told in reverse chronological order and is based on Harold Pinter’s own affair. It’s directed by Jamie Lloyd and will close out this year’s Pinter at the Pinter season. If you wanted to see Daredevil and Loki onstage together, now’s your chance!

Since the Oscars have no host this year, The Hollywood Reporter says that the organizers are trying to get the cast of Avengers Endgame together along with a bunch of other stars to help introduce segments of the show. The cast of Avengers appeared on the show back in 2013. The Academy hopes to have even more of the cast together than last time, but they are still working out the details and there’s no word on how much of the cast would make an appearance this time around.

Variety has reported that the Fox-Disney merger won’t be finished  until ”early March.” This means that Marvel could start developing stories for these characters very soon!

Netflix has released another trailer for season 2 of The Punisher which will be released on January 18. You can watch it below:

There was so much news this week and so many interviews that there’s no way to share all of it. What I do here on this site is share interesting bits and pieces that stand out to me. I try to always cite my sources and emphasize whether things are rumors or not. I’m still trying to figure out what kinds of information to share. Please feel free to let me know what you want to see more or less of in the comments section. Thank you!
