It’s been a slow week for Marvel news and most of this week’s tidbits are about the actor’s other projects. News will be sure to pick up again after the New year. In the meantime I hope to have one movie review posted.
Unfortunately, the Spider-Man Far From Home trailer wasn’t released like it was supposedly going to. I’ve got no idea when they’ll release it. Hopefully, it will be soon.
According to Peter Sciretta from Slashfilm, a couple of people have been allowed to read James Gunn’s script for Guardians 3. It’s so emotional that it’s made them cry.
Karen Gillan, who plays Nebula, told People in an interview “… I don’t have any details as to when [the next Guardians will come out] but there’s a script in existence.”
She cheekily added, “I may have had a little teeny peek, but I can’t say anything.”
Let’s get through one tear-jerker at a time, please. We have Endgame to get through and I am not done recovering from Infinity War yet. I’m so not ready for another emotional roller coaster ride.
The Oscars recently released the shortlist of their nominees and all three of the MCU films that were released this year have been nominated for awards.
Black Panther has made the shortlist for Makeup and Hairstyling, Original Score, Original Song, and Visual Effects.
Infinity War has been shortlisted for Original Score and Visual Effects.
Antman And The Wasp has been shortlisted for Visual Effects.
The final nominations will be revealed on January 22, 2019. Fingers crossed that an MCU film will finally be recognized by the Academy!
There’s a rumor going around that a future MCU film will have scenes set during WWI. An Italian site Badtaste.it has cited newspaper, I l Saviglianese, the castle and historic center of Racconigi are going to be used for filming scenes for an upcoming Marvel film. Filming is said to take place during April and May of next year. The report also claims that the director was seen in the area, but the director’s name wasn’t given. No one knows what movie is going to be filmed there, but it’s possible the scenes could be for Black Widow, which is the next movie set to start filming early next year. The Eternals is another possibility but nothing has been confirmed.
An MCU movie has never been set during WWI before, so if any of this turns out to be true, it will be an interesting era of history to explore. Dear Marvel, you have my attention!
Cate Blanchett (Hela In Thor Ragnarok) stars in the upcoming movie Where’d You Go, Bernadette? It’s based on the book of the same name by Maria Semple. The first trailer came out a couple days ago, and it looks very interesting.
It comes out in theaters March 22, 2019.
The IMAX trailer for Avengers Endgame has been released this weekend, both in theaters and online. You can watch it below. It’s the same trailer, you just see a few more details than you do in the original. For example, it is Nebula you see reaching for Tony. So that bursts the bubble in the “It’s Loki!” theory.
Avengers Endgame will be released April 26, 2019.
The head of Disney’s upcoming streaming service Disney+, Kevin Mayer, told The Hollywood Reporter that it’s a possibility that the canceled Marvel Netflix shows could be be revived on Disney+. However, it won’t be anytime soon because the Netflix contract states that the characters from the canceled shows can’t be used in other projects until two years after cancellation.
Sebastian Stan (Bucky Barnes) has been very busy this year and has several new movies coming out, including Destroyer, which will be released Christmas Day. The final trailer is below.
The first look at the new film Monday starring Sebastian Stan and Deniese Gough was released by Variety.
The above picture is enough to sell me on this movie alone. The synopsis given reads:
Monday” follows the story of Mickey (Stan) and Chloe (Gough), two Americans in their mid-thirties living in Athens, who “meet in the heat of summer one whirlwind weekend,” according to a statement. “When Chloe’s time in Greece is drawing to a close, she decides to give up her high-flying job back home and explore whether one weekend’s passion can stand the reality of the inevitable Monday.”
I’m up for a romance any time. This sounds like it could be really good!
Sebastian will also star in the movie I’m Not Here. It comes out April 25, 2019. You can watch the first trailer below.
Marvel announced that there will be a two issue prelude comic for Spider-Man Far From Home. The first issue will be released next March and retells the story from Spider-Man Homecoming.
The poster and first trailer for Men In Black: International starring Chris Hemsworth (Thor) and Tessa Thompson (Valkerie). You can check out the trailer below.
It looks really cool. I can’t wait to see it! It comes out June 14, 2019.
Adam McKay (He helped Paul Rudd rewrite Antman) was on MTV’s Happy Sad Confused podcast and said that he has been approached by Marvel to direct Guardians of the Galaxy 3. He also said that Marvel is “kicking around a Nova idea,” and that he would like the chance to make a Silver Surfer movie.
There is currently no word on whether he will be the one to replace James Gunn on Guardians 3.
According to IMDB, the two most anticipated 2019 films are Avengers 4 and Captain Marvel.
Insomniac Games has released the Sam Raimi Spider-Man suit for all players on Spider-Man for PS4.
The Christmas EP A Very Spidey Christmas featured in Spider-Man: Into The Spiderverse has been released. You can now own gems like this:
The speaking part towards the end is particularly entertaining!
In a recent interview with Collider , director Guillermo del Toro was asked if he’d ever direct a film for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He’s interested in doing so, but only if it focuses on characters that are monsters. He said, “I’m not interested in superheroes that aren’t monsters.”
So, Marvel, you know what to do. “Get this man a monster!”
In an interview with IGN, Kelly Port from Digital Domain, the company responsible for Infinity War’s visual effects, revealed that Red Skull was recreated entirely with CGI and that actor Ross Marquand only provided the voice.
The Russo Brothers said in an interview with Empire Magazine that “there’s a high probability that this movie (Avengers 4) will clock in at around three hours.” They say, “It’s a big movie with a lot of story.”
I sure hope there’s an intermission if this turns out to be the case!
This will most likely be the last News Roundup of the year. I will try to have at least one movie review posted. The news will start up again in the new year and the News Roundup will return.
I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year. I am so thankful for everyone involved in this community and am looking forward to seeing where the Facebook page and site go next in the New Year. Thanks for celebrating the MCU with us! ❤️
Over and out,
