Disney’s streaming service was showcased yesterday at their Shareholders Meeting. Many announcements were made about pricing, release date, and Marvel’s upcoming programming.

 

1. Disney + will be released in the United States  on November 12, 2019.

2. It will be advertisement-free.

3. It will cost $6.99 a month or $69.99 a year

4. Content will be downloadable and accessible offline.

 

Marvel Disney + Programming

Falcon and Winter Soldier will be up first and will be available to stream within the first year of Disney +. Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan will be reprising their roles Bucky Barnes and Sam Wilson.

Loki will see Tom Hiddleston reprise his role as the titular character, and according to D23, it will be available to stream in Year Two of Disney +. It means we won’t see the series until 2021.

Paul Bettany and Elizabeth Olsen will reprise their roles as Vision and Scarlet Witch in Wanda and the Vision. D23 also reported it as a Year Two show.

What If, the animated anthology show exploring alternate scenarios of MCU Canon, will be a Year One show. The first episode will be: “What If Peggy Carter took the Super-Soldier Serum, and a scrawny Steve Rogers uses an armored suit built by Howard Stark?” The characters are expected to be played by their live-action MCU actors.

Variety reported that Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye will be getting a Disney + show. It’ll be an “adventure series in which Clint Barton, a.k.a. Hawkeye, will pass the torch to   Kate Bishop”, the next Hawkeye and Young Avenger.

The Hollywood Reporter announced the release of two Marvel docuseries:

“Marvel’s 616 (working title) is an anthological documentary series exploring the intersection between Marvel’s rich legacy of stories, characters and creators and the world outside your window. Told through the lens of a diverse group of filmmakers, each doc will dive into the rich historical, cultural and societal context that has become inseparable from stories of the Marvel Universe.” D23 reported this as a Year One show.

“Marvel’s Hero Project reveals the remarkable, positive change several young heroes are making in their own communities. These inspiring kids have dedicated their lives to selfless acts of bravery and kindness, and now, Marvel celebrates them as the true super heroes they are.”

D23 reported this will be available at launch.

Slashfilm reported that Kevin Feige said that:

1.“A post-Endgame MCU will be extremely different and extremely focused on Disney+ tying into our future.”

2. The shows will be “equally important to the films.”

3. The shows will “change and evolve our existing characters.”

4. They will be “introducing new ones in ways that deepen the mythology and significantly impact the future of the MCU.”

 

Character posters for season six of Agents of Shield have been released including a first look at Clark Gregg’s new character Sarge.

 

 

 

Deadline reported that O-T Fagbenle has joined the cast of Black Widow in a currently undisclosed role. Rumors are swirling that he will be playing the villain in the film.

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige was interviewed by IGN and had several things to say about the MCU’s future:

1. “We’re still going to be making movies after these two [Endgame and Spider-Man: Far From Home]. And we’ll be talking about them soon after Spider-Man: Far From Home comes out.”

2. It will be at least five years until the X-Men are introduced into the MCU.

3. The MCU movies releasing in the next five years will “feel very distinct” from the first three phases.

Stuber:

Collider reported that Dave Bautista will star in a new action-thriller Killer’s Game  that “follows a veteran hitman named Joe Flood who is informed by his doctor that he has only a few months to live, so he puts out an open contract on his own life, only to discover that the lab made a mistake and he’s actually in perfect health — forcing him to battle an army of assassins out to kill him.”
