From Wizard To Spy?

There was a bunch of news and rumors pertaining to the upcoming Black Widow movie this week, and Captain Marvel is now out in theaters!

Marvel is planning to increase the diversity in future films, and That Hashtag Show recently reported that rewrites to the script indicate that they’re looking for a Black British or African actor aged 30- 45 to play a “tough, dangerous, and mysterious” villain.

Andre Holland (Moonlight) has auditioned to play the villain. There’s also roles for two older American characters. Rachel Weisz, Alec Baldwin, and Sebastian Koch are some of the actors mentioned  for these roles.

Emma Watson (Harry Potter) tops the list of names to play the second female lead alongside Scarlett Johansson. The character is being  described as a “Kick ass female Bond.” Alice Englert, Dar Zuzovsky, and Florence Pugh are also being considered.

A rewrite of the script by Ned Benson includes a new character, and Marvel is looking for ”a young actress of color” aged 15-25 for the role Possible actresses being considered are Storm Reid, Isabella Moner, Camilla Mendes, and Hannah Quinlivan.

It’s still too early in the casting process to know who will get what roles in the end, but it’s exciting to know how quickly things are coming together for Black Widow.

Two new promos for Cloak and Dagger have been released.

At the Captain Marvel premiere, Kevin Feige confirmed that there’s another Stan Lee cameo after Captain Marvel.

The Hollywood Reporter reported that Jared Harris has joined the cast of Spiderman Man spinoff Morbius and will play Morbius’ mentor. Matt Smith will play the villain, Loxias Crown, and Tyrese Gibson will play “an FBI agent trying to hunt down the living vampire.”

Two new Captain Marvel posters designed by @MattTaylorDraws have been released.

The Russo Brothers tweeted that Avengers: Endgame has been picture-locked, meaning that editing has been finished.

It’s official. Clark Gregg has confirmed that season 7 of Agents of Shield will be the show’s last.

Production Weekly has confirmed that Zendaya will costar with Tiffany Haddish in the female  Jumpstreet spinoff, 24 Jumpstreet.

DiscussingFilm reported that Benedict Cumberbatch and Jake Gyllenhaal’s movie, Rio, will start filming in Brazil this Fall.

Da 5 Bloods starring Chadwick Boseman and directed by Spike Lee will start filming March 18th in Vietnam and Thailand.

Exhibitor Production Company reported that Detective Pikachu has been rated PG.

Late last year, it was announced that James Gunn would write and direct a Suicide Squad sequel. Earlier this week, The Hollywood Reporter  reported that Will Smith wouldn’t be returning as Deadshot and that Idris Elba could be his replacement.

Collider reported that James Gunn would like Dave Bautista to play Peacemaker in the sequel.

Warner Brothers Entertainment announced that Sherlock Holmes 3’s release date has been moved to December 22, 2021.

Deadline reported that Brie Larson will star in and executive produce a CIA drama for Apple’s new streaming service.
